Google Simplifies Its Privacy Settings

Google made changes to its privacy and security settings in an attempt to make it easier for users to see and change what information is being collected about them.

These settings are now displayed all in one place, which is much simpler than the previous layout which required users to navigate through different pages.

Users can now access their “My Account” page and alter their privacy settings. They are also able to ready step by step setting guides, manage the personal information that is used and control the ads and apps that are shown while using the search engine.

They have also added a FAQ section, where users will be able to find answers regarding privacy settings on the site.

The choice of settings remains the same but Google bosses think that by placing them all in one place, users will find it more “intuitive” to make changes.

According to Google, the new security and privacy process should only take around 2 and a half minutes to complete, meaning that everyone should be able to find the time to complete it.

On the company’s blog, Google executive Guemmy Kim wrote; “When you trust your personal information with us, you should expect powerful controls that keep it safe and private as well as useful answers to your questions.”

“Today’s launches are just the latest in our ongoing efforts to protect you and your information on Google. There‚Äôs much more to come, and we look forward to your feedback.”

The search engine company has recently been in the limelight for its dispute with EU regulators over its privacy policies. Google’s latest move with its settings is probably an attempt to get both critics and users back on side. If you are changing your personal privacy settings, be sure to read them carefully if you want to ensure that you protect your personal data!
