Snapchat Launches World Lenses

With more than 150 million people using Snapchat each day, the photo-sharing app has clearly been doing something right.

From sending simple snaps to your best friends to animating your photos, there is plenty to do on the social media platform which is probably why it has become so popular.

On Tuesday, the company rolled a brand-new feature called ‘World Lenses.’ They are just like selfie lenses on the app, in the sense that you can decorate your photos and videos with animated overlays.

But instead of adding the filters to pictures of yourself, World Lenses allows you add them to photos that you take of the world around you.

There are many different World Lenses available, including clouds that vomit rainbows, an air-horn, falling snowflakes and a flashlight that you can turn on and off. With the app constantly changing, there is no doubt that these will be updated with bigger and better filters in the future.

Speaking to TechCrunch, the company said that “World Lenses will help Snapchatters decorate the world around them in even more fun and creative ways.”

To start using these features, you will need to update Snapchat if you haven’t already. Once you have done this, find something that you want to take a photo of then tap and hold down the screen. The different filters will pop up and you can swipe through them to find your favourite.

The Piranha team have already been experimenting with World Lenses and we have got to say that they are great fun! If you have taken any photos with the new filters, feel free to share them with us on Facebook or Twitter.
